Tracking

It was perfect tracking weather down at Southside this morning. Ann brought Basco.

Since Aron and Madison havent tracked since the beginning of December I didnt push them too hard. You would have thought that Aron has been tracking every day since. I did a fairly straightforward track, 2 corners, no articles, about 150-200 yards long. Basically food in 3-7 steps and then 5-20 steps no food. He took the corners like he was on rails. Did a great job all the way to the end.

Madison aka Chow Hound, was so excited to be tracking that she missed a bunch of food at the beginning and I had a hard time holding her with my left hand and a wet line. She settled after the first 40' and ran it well, until she got the the crest of a steep section and she tried to cast from side to side, eventually following it down and to the end.

Protection

It was a good session out at Port Royal School this afternoon. Ann was there with Basco, Jojo brought Gunner and Kirista had the dobe pup. Jermanine came with Capone(rot) William brough Kiara(Czech GSD) and Mark brought Ceasar and Nancy(UK GSDs). Maureen brought her golden Callum along to work her AKC utility.

I worked Aron 2 sessions. Had to be really careful not to use my right arm. The shoulder is still somewhat fragile, as we work to get the capsule inflamation to go down. So I ran 4 blinds without the helper and then again with Jermain in blind 2. He was really good considering all the time off.

Madison worked really well. I started with her is a long down watching the puppy work. It was hard on her head for sure to lay still and watch the dobe pup have all the fun... When it was her turn she dragged me on the field and was hitting hard.

Obedience

First time Thursday training in a while. It was a good night at the NEC even if I couldnt find the damn key for the gate. We all just parked on the outside and turned on the lights to have at it. Ann came with Basco, Jojo brought Gunner and Katrina brought her pit for the first time.

Not being able to play hard... still under doctors/physios instruction.. I did a lot of work with food. Focusing on the fus, sitting fast, down fast, precision in the positions etc etc... Both dogs did well.

Protection

An afternoon of spitting rain, turned out good for the training session at Port Royal today. Jojo had Gunner & Star, Kirista had her pup, Ann brought Basco, William came with Kiara, Maureen brought her Golden (AKC Utility) and Jermaine brought Capone.

After a rbief excercise in the futility of double handling, I took Aron for the first time since the operation and ran 2 blinds with him. He did well, Jojo did one run out and one hold and bark in the blind. Aron was biting hard, forceful and full. We then did a couple of short attacks on the helper from a quiet watchful down, and after a good hard fight where he dragged Jojo across the field on his ass we finished up.

Fus, Jumps and the Dumbell

A good evening under the lights at Vesey Street (NEC). Ann brought Basco and Ali came when she finished the horses to work Aron and Madison. The guys were out in force setting up for the jumper show this weekend so all the lights were on.

Aron worked in fus, some sits and downs out of drive, and following Basco's example we did a few jumps, retrieving the dumbell really well.

Madison worked in heel for food, firm corrections paired with the food worked wonders for her concentration. She too did really well with the jumps and retrieves.
